On August 27, 2026, Rockstar Games published Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, the most extensive presentation of the game so far. The company claims that the material was captured entirely from the PlayStation 5 game. Unlike previous trailers, the video follows long stretches of playable situations and transitions between exploration, dialogue, combat, direction and cinematographic scenes.
The material is not a technical demonstration narrated system by system. It works as a broad cut of how missions, open world and everyday life blend. Therefore, this page separates what appears directly in the video from the interpretations published by press and community after presentation.
Overview
Extended Look follows Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos at different times in their criminal life in Leonida. One of the first sequences shows the duo performing a collection for Boobie Ike. They walk into a building, look for Raymond and get to a drug lab. The situation changes when the warning of a police operation arises, starting to an armed confrontation and an escape.
At other times, the video slows down to show the protagonists inside the house, chatting, picking clothes and moving on to a Brian Heder party. There are also works involving Raul Bautista and a mission in which Jason and Lucia work in the protection of Andres de Leon. The whole reinforces that the campaign will alternate organized crime, personal situations and free activities by the state.
Official status
Rockstar reports that Extended Look was captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5. This confirms that the scenes presented represent the running game, although it does not mean that every sequence shown is direct control of the player all the time.
History and double protagonist
The official description continues to place Jason and Lucia at the center of the story: after a seemingly simple coup goes wrong, the two enter into a criminal conspiracy that crosses Leonida and need to depend on each other.
Rumors, previews and community
After the presentation, forums and previews began to discuss campaign duration, map size, relationship, criminal profile and other mechanics. These points should only be treated as confirmed when there is direct Rockstar talk or unambiguous demonstration in official material.
Collection for Boobie Ike
One of the most complete sequences begins with Jason and Lucia entering gang territory to make a collection linked to Boobie Ike. They talk to NPCs, get directions inside the building and look for Raymond. Jason can even interact with a dog on the way. The duo arrives at a drug lab, where a discussion increases the tension.
A call says a police force is coming. Agents break into the building and start a firefight. The demonstration goes from dialogue and exploration to combat without a strong visual rupture, with Lucia accompanying Jason and the two advancing together through the corridors. After the confrontation, they still need to escape taking the merchandise.
Combat, coverage and Focus
The video shows combat in third person, coverage, different weapons and shots made during displacements. In a later sequence, Jason appears to use a deceleration effect to carry out more precise shootings, a feature that the press and community called Focus.
Different hit markers and situations also appear in which the characters hold weapons in ways adapted to context. Lucia, for example, is seen using a long gun with only one hand while carrying something else. The material suggests a greater variety of animations, but does not officially explain all the rules of the combat system.
Stealing a car doesn't always seem instant.
In a stretch, Jason forces entry into a vehicle and action involves a specific interaction to open the car. This drew attention because it suggests that certain robberies may require more than simply pressing a button and entering. Extended Look shows animation and interaction, but does not establish whether the procedure is valid for all vehicles or only for specific situations.
Jason and Lucia playing together
The presentation shows the two protagonists acting side by side in missions and displacements. There are situations where one drives while the other shoots, in addition to a switch of control between Jason and Lucia. At another point, character change occurs after a BASE jump activity.
This confirms the return of a form of exchange between protagonists, now applied to a pair whose relationship is central to history. The video, however, does not detail all the limitations of the exchange during missions or at which times both will be available.
Apartment, clothing and everyday life
Extended Look devotes time to moments without action. Jason circulates through the space where he lives with Lucia, interacts with the environment and takes food from the fridge. Before you go out to a party, you two talk while you get ready. Televisions exhibit fictional commercials and the environment has everyday objects and details.
These scenes were very much commented on. because Rockstar chose to show routine and environment instead of filling the entire presentation with stalking. The safest reading is that interiors and moments of coexistence will have greater importance for the sensation of a living world; specific feeding or relationship systems require additional confirmation.
Brian Heder's party
Jason and Lucia meet Brian Heder at a party. The conversation addresses the situation that the duo got into and introduces another criminal work. The demonstration indicates that not every mission needs to involve the two protagonists simultaneously: Brian comments on a service for which only one of them is needed.
The sequence also shows small contextual interactions during conversations. They help blur the traditional separation between cutscene and player control, something that repeats at various times in the presentation.
Raul Bautista and crime as a profession
Raul Bautista appears linked to more ambitious works. The material reinforces its role already described by Rockstar: an experienced bank robber who seeks partners willing to take greater risks for greater rewards. In scenes with Jason and Lucia, Raul takes on a veteran criminal stance and talks about how to conduct the work.
Part of community interprets their conversations with Lucia as an indication that she may be attracted to an escalation in the world of crime, while Jason would show greater concern. It is a plausible narrative reading of expressions and dialogues, but not a confirmation of the course of history.
Protecting Andres from Leon
Another mission puts Jason and Lucia in a protection work for Andres de Leon during a sophisticated event. The situation ends in combat within a building with night lighting and luxurious environments. The excerpt serves to show that campaign work will not be restricted to shoplifting, drugs or street chases.
Police, persecution and ways to lose sight
The Extended Look shows car chases, helicopters, vehicle exchange and attempt to reduce police attention. In an escape, the characters abandon and burn a car before moving on to another vehicle. The presentation suggests that exchanging appearance, vehicle or approach may be part of the evasion.
The press that participated in demonstrations later described deeper changes in the police system. As not all these rules are explained by the public video, HubGTA separates this preview information from what can be observed directly in Extended Look.
Assaults and minor crimes
Lucia appears entering an armed establishment, leaving with a purse of money and being collected by Jason. There are also theft of vehicles, confrontations, persecutions and kidnapping situations. In one of them, the victim broadcasts the event live, reinforcing the presence of social networks within Leonida's satire.
Activities shown around the world
The assembly features an unusual amount of activities: airboat by swamps, jet ski, diving, swimming, kayaking, gym, basketball, car racing, dirt bikes, boxing, BASE jumping, parties, dancing and strip clubs. Scooters and different types of boats also appear.
The fact that an activity appears in the video confirms its presence visual in the game, but not necessarily the depth of each system. For example, the academy is shown, but rules such as signature, muscle evolution and supplements come mainly from reports of previews, not from presentation alone.
NPCs and a more reactive world
The video gives plenty of space to crowds, people talking, parties, busy streets and small interactions. Jason can interact with a dog during a mission. There is a wide variety of bodies, clothes and behaviors visible in NPCs.
The community especially highlighted how animations seem to adapt to specific situations. Press reports add that NPCs would react and even remember player actions, but this level of persistence cannot be proven just by watching Extended Look.
Water, fauna and exploitation
Leonida appears surrounded by aquatic activities. In addition to boats, jet skis, kayaks, diving and swimming, frame by frame analyses identified marine life as dolphins, rays and fish, as well as animals associated with swamps. The amount of scenes in the water indicates that seas, rivers and flooded areas will play a relevant role in the exploration.
Social networks within Leonida
The use of social networks, already evident in the first trailer, appears again integrated into the situations of the game. A victim records or transmits a crime involving the protagonists. This reinforces the satire of a Leonida in which crimes, fame, public exposure and viral content mix.
Criminal Profile: what we know and what is still preview
After Extended Look, journalists and creators who had access to additional presentations reported a system called Criminal Profile. The recurring description is that it does not simply work as the Honor of Red Dead Redemption 2: instead of classifying the character as good or bad, it would follow the type of criminal that the player is building.
Discussions cite states such as Professional, Aggressive, Violent and Psycho, separate profiles for Jason and Lucia and possible narrative consequences. These details are relevant and have multiple reports, but are not explained by the official Extended Look page. Therefore, HubGTA records them as preview information, not as Official specification published by Rockstar.
Relationship of Jason and Lucia
The presentation reinforces the proximity of the couple at home, at parties, in the car and during work. Reports of previews published after the video state that there is a relationship system influenced by actions, messages, meetings and activities done together.
The narrative existence of the relationship is official; already bar details, states and mechanical consequences come from demonstrations reported by third parties and should remain with this exception until direct Rockstar documentation.
Details found by the community
Frame-by-frame analyses found differences in interface between snippets, weapon icons that appear to have been changed and small adjustments of models and accessories. A popular discussion indicates that different scenes may have been captured in different builds of the game. This is compatible with a project still under development, but it was not officially declared by Rockstar.
Another recurring observation is that some scenes from Extended Look expand moments already seen in previous trailers. Side-by-side comparisons show changes in scenery, lighting, objects and finishing, offering an interesting record of visual evolution between promotional materials.
What should not be treated as confirmed
After the presentation circulated numbers and statements such as campaign of approximately 80 hours, map twice as large as GTA V, Vice City twice as large as Los Santos, more than 600,000 animations and very specific rules for academy, fast travel and Criminal Profile. Part of this is attributed to press or creator visits to Rockstar and part was repeated without accessible primary source.
HubGTA should not turn these numbers into facts just because they were very shared. They can be recorded as preview reports or community discussion, always identifying the origin and awaiting public confirmation from Rockstar.
