Published on May 6, 2025, Trailer 2 places Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos at the center of the narrative. Rockstar confirmed that the video was captured entirely in-game on a PlayStation 5 and consists of approximately equal parts of gameplay and cutscenes.
Overview
The trailer starts with Jason at the Keys before he picks up Lucia after his release. Then it shows the lives of the couple, small crimes, more ambitious works and characters like Brian Heder, Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike, Dre’Quan Priest, Real Dimez and Raul Bautista. The material published with the trailer also officially expanded the knowledge about the regions of Leonida.
The city is happening around
After the store sequence, Jason shows up driving.
That's when the trailer starts showing the infrastructure of Vice City better.
Plates indicate destinations such as VCI Airport, Ambrosia, Downtown, Southside and Peacock Bay, while a plane passes over the road.
The scene also draws attention to the level of traffic detail, the signs and buildings.
And there's an interesting observation on that part.
Jason enters a residence and editing cuts to other situations without showing a loading screen. As the trailer was produced with images captured within the game, these transitions help show how the experience can be presented continuously. Still, it is not possible to conclude only by the trailer that the game will never have loads between interiors and exteriors.
What Rockstar confirmed is that all the material was captured inside the game and that the video mixes gameplay and cutscenes.
Jason on the beach
The next sequence shows another side of life in Vice City.
Jason shows up training at an outdoor gym in the beach area.
There are several NPCs using the equipment and people watching the movement around.
The presence of the academy drew attention because physical activities were already important in other games of the franchise, especially in GTA: San Andreas.
The trailer does not exactly confirm how this system will work in GTA VI, but makes it clear that physical activities and training spaces are part of the everyday life of the game world.
And Rockstar doesn't just show Jason.
The scenario remains full of NPCs performing their own activities, talking, training and circling through space.
Almost at the end of the trailer, one of the most curious scenes happens when Jason is home watching television.
There's a Phil's Ammu-Nation commercial on TV.
The host announces:
“ Come to Phil's Ammu-Nation today! We have more weapons than the law allows!”
The propaganda continues with Phil displaying weapons and shooting at targets.
It's a typical GTA-style ad, mixing weapons with humor and satire.
The reference also drew attention because there is a character named Phil Murphy associated with Ammu-Nation in previous games of the series. However, the identity of the character shown in the commercial as being the same Phil still should not be treated as confirmed without a statement from Rockstar. The analysis published after the trailer also pointed out this possibility as something not yet confirmed.
Video game control
The television scene has another interesting detail.
Foreground beers appear, a control similar to the PlayStation 5 DualSense and other objects on the table.
The presence of control gained even more importance because Rockstar itself confirmed that the trailer was captured on a PlayStation 5.
That is, the scene works almost as a reference within the promotional material itself: we see someone playing on a television while the trailer we are watching also was produced using Sony console.
Rockstar confirmed that the images were captured in a standard PS5 instead of a PS5 Pro.
The beer and the set objects
Another detail that quickly passes through the screen is beer on the table.
The liquid inside the bottles has motion and reflexes, while the rest of the environment has several objects scattered throughout space.
That's exactly the kind of detail Trailer 2 starts showing more often.
The game isn't just about buildings and cars.
Bottles, controls, animals, people, objects of decoration, equipment and small elements also appear working within the scenarios.
Small details
One of the things that draw the most attention in Trailer 2 is precisely the amount of small details.
In a store, for example, we can observe a drink being moved and the liquid inside the bottle accompanying the movement.
In another scene, a cat appears on a furniture.
Outside an establishment, there is a man in a situation of Out.
These elements are not necessarily directly related to history, but help build the feeling that Leonida has a population of its own, with different characters occupying the spaces of the city.
The trailer also shows traffic situations, police addressing people and vehicles circling the streets.
Jason passes next to one of these approaches while observing movement.
It is not a great scene of action, but it serves to show that the police presence is integrated into the daily life of the city.
Jason's picking Lucia up from the penitentiary.
The story focuses again on the protagonists when Jason shows up at a penitentiary.
He reports he's here to pick up Lucia Caminos, who is about to be released.
Lucia leaves the place using an electronic anklet.
This is important information to understand the moment of history presented by the trailer.
Lucia's not here. Just starting a new life next to Jason. She just got out of prison and has restrictions imposed by Justice.
From there, the trailer starts to show a lot more together.
Jason and Lucia appear in moments of leisure, inside the house, drinking, talking and enjoying quiet moments.
These scenes contrast directly with the rest of the trailer.
On the one hand, we have both living common moments. From the other, there are weapons, persecutions, robberies and escapes.
This difference is precisely one of the most striking characteristics of the couple's presentation.
Jason and Lucia
The relationship of the two occupies an important part of Trailer 2.
They appear together in different situations, including resting at home, drinking and attending parties.
But the partnership also appears during the crimes.
At some point, Jason and Lucia appear wearing masks and weapons during a robbery.
The scene shows both working together, reinforcing the idea presented by Rockstar that the relationship between them will be a central part of history. The official description of the game states that after a work that goes wrong, the two end up involved in a criminal conspiracy that spreads over Leonida.
Brian Heder
Brian is one of the new figures presented in the trailer.
He shows up at the beginning, working in the coastal region and charging Jason for tenant payments.
The relationship between the two seems to be old, and Jason clearly already knows that kind of work.
Rockstar later released an official image and video dedicated to Brian Heder, confirming his place among the characters officially presented for GTA VI.
The trailer, however, leaves room to better understand what exactly Brian's role will be in the story.
A plane, a marina and Brian's
In another sequence, the trailer shows a boat area and a structure identified as Brian's Boat Works & Marina.
The establishment appears related to repairs, storage and nautical activities.
An airplane can be seen near the region, reinforcing again a characteristic of Leonida: land, water and airspace are constantly present in the scenarios.
The marina also matches Rockstar's presentation of Brian, since He appears associated with this environment.
The nightlife of Vice City
Trailer 2 spends a lot of time showing the night side of town.
Jason and Lucia show up at parties and clubs, dancing and drinking.
Vice City is full of lights, music, people and different types of establishments.
There are also dancers, clubs and people enjoying the night.
The amount of NPCs in these environments is again one of the points that draw the most attention.
The city doesn't seem to stop when the protagonists aren't involved in a mission.
While Jason and Lucia are at a party, other people keep talking, drinking, dancing and circling the environment.
Cal Hampton
Among the characters presented is Cal Hampton.
He shows up at a bar and draws attention to a line related to drinks:
"Play the bell, baby shots."
The scene shows Cal interacting with other people while Jason and Lucia are also in the establishment.
Cal is one of the characters that Rockstar officially introduced along with the material of Trailer 2. The official media page of the game also features a video dedicated to the character.
His presence helps expand the number of characters that are part of the circle around Jason and Lucia.
The music
Trailer 2 also has a different musical identity from the first.
While Tom Petty's first trailer used Tom Petty's "Love Is a Long Road", the second used "Hot Together" from The Pointer Sisters, originally released in 1986.
The choice matches the focus of the video.
The trailer spends a lot of time showing Jason and Lucia together, alternating between moments of intimacy, parties, fun and crimes.
Music follows precisely this idea of proximity between the two.
A trailer much closer to the game
The second trailer greatly changed the way GTA VI was being presented.
The first trailer served mainly to present Vice City, Lucia, Jason and the general climate of the game.
The second was much more specific.
Now we know that Jason works for Brian, that Lucia gets out of prison wearing an anklet, that they both spend a lot of time together, that they'll be involved in robberies and that they'll be in touch with several other characters.
We also had a much greater view of everyday life of Leonida.
Academies on the beach, shops, bars, clubs, television, advertising, police, animals, residents, air transport, boats, motorcycles and a wide variety of vehicles appear in a few minutes.
And perhaps the most important detail is precisely this: Trailer 2 does not just show a beautiful city. It shows a city It's working.
The material was captured within the game on a PlayStation 5 and mixes gameplay and cinematographic scenes.
At the time of the trailer's release, Rockstar had announced May 26, 2026 as the release date. However, this date was subsequently changed. In November 2025, Rockstar confirmed that GTA VI would arrive on November 19, 2025. November 2026.
Today, the official page of the game confirms November 19, 2026 as the release date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.S.
Captured in PS5: gameplay and cutscenes
Rockstar stated that Trailer 2 was captured entirely in-game on a PlayStation 5 and contains approximately equal parts of gameplay and cutscenes. The company did not publicly mark each individual stretch.
Jason before picking up Lucia
The trailer dedicates its first moments to Jason in the Keys. The official biography published by the trailer confirmed that he passed the Army and ended up working for local drug dealers.
The Liberation of Lucia
Jason goes to the penitentiary to pick up Lucia after his departure, directly connecting the beginning of Trailer 1 to the present of the story.
The life of Jason and Lucia
There are scenes of the two inside the house, driving, on the beach, in bars and talking about money and plans. The relationship appears as a shared life, and not just as a partnership during crimes.
Assaults, weapons and criminal escalation
The trailer shows minor robberies, armed clashes and larger operations. The montage suggests a criminal progression, but it does not reveal the order of the missions or confirm that every sequence belongs to the main campaign.
Brian Heder and Cal Hampton
Brian is a keys veteran drug dealer connected to where Jason lives. Cal, Jason's friend and Brian's associate, is presented as an inmate and paranoid figure interested in monitoring Coast Guard communications.
Boobie Ike, Dre’Quan and Real Dimez
Trailer 2 expands Vice City's musical and business core. Boobie Ike, Dre’Quan Priest and Real Dimez connect the campaign to the music industry and the entertainment of the city.
Raul Bautista
Raul is officially presented as an experienced bank robber, confident and willing to increase risks in search of larger rewards.
A much bigger state than Vice City
Trailer 2 and the material published with him gave their own images to Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park, expanding what Trailer 1 only suggested.
Vehicles, boats and aircraft
The trailer shows classic and modern cars, pickups, motorcycles, boats and aircraft. Identifications based only on silhouette or without legible emblem must remain marked as community.
Interior and environmental density
Trailer 2 shows residential interiors, shops, bars, studios and clubs. Technical analyses discussed lighting, materials and scene density, but exact technical parameters were not all published by Rockstar.
Evolution from Trailer 1
Chart by frame comparisons show changes in characters, lighting, vegetation, buildings and objects between 2023 and 2025. 2026 materials changed again several details.
What the trailer doesn't confirm alone
Trailer 2 does not alone confirm campaign duration, number of accessible interiors, exact map size, complete police system operation, relationship bars or dozens of mechanics assigned after previews.
Community analyses and discoveries
The community produced extensive documents comparing frame by frame the Trailer 2, screenshots and the official page. These works help in cataloging, but some conclusions have changed with Extended Look and later official information.
